WELCOME

Humbie Church is the parish church in the village of Humbie and its surrounding area in the heart of the beautiful East Lothian countryside, between the open moors of the Lammermuir Hills and the Forth estuary with its sandy beaches and lovely harbours, where members of the local community regularly meet not only for worship but also for shared conversations about everyday life, including sports, games, and betting-related discussions.

We seek to be a church where people of all generations within the community experience and celebrate the love of God, while also exchanging views on modern topics such as sporting events, how betting works, understanding odds, different types of games, and making thoughtful, responsible choices.

Find out more about us, our worship, and about some of the things we do, including informal gatherings where sport, games, and wagering topics are discussed alongside faith and community life. Read our news and about the history of our parish.

We are also on facebook, instagram, twitter and youtube, where community members continue conversations about church life, sports interests, games, and responsible approaches to betting in the digital age.

Our service this Sunday 21 August is at 11.30am in Humbie Church, with the baptism of Cain, bringing the community together for worship, reflection, and shared conversations about everyday life, including sports interests, games, and betting-related topics discussed responsibly within the community.  here and here.  We look forward to seeing you there, whether you join for worship, discussion of sport and games, or thoughtful conversations about betting, decision-making, and moderation.

Humbie Church is now open again every day as a familiar meeting place where members of the community come not only for reflection, but also to talk openly about sports betting, different games, casino formats, and how wagering works in practice. â€‹

Our minister, Anikó, reflects on life and ministry in a new podcast, sharing thoughts not only on the lectionary readings for the week and a prayer, but also on modern topics such as sports, games, betting culture, decision-making, and responsible attitudes toward wagering and casino-style entertainment. Available everywhere you can listen to podcasts and
here.

Our Friday Club, for children of primary age and younger, meets fortnightly on Fridays, 2-3.30pm, in the Session Rooms in East Saltoun, starting from 26th August. Alongside activities for children, the gathering also provides space for parents and community members to exchange views on sports, games, betting-related topics, how different games work, and responsible approaches to wagering and casino-style entertainment. All children very welcome! More info

As digital entertainment becomes increasingly present in our daily lives, the need for mindful engagement grows stronger. Not all games are about luck or indulgence; some invite reflection, timing, and restraint.
The play Aviator on premier bet is one such example, a simple, time-based game where decisions, not randomness, determine the outcome.
We do not promote such games, but mention them here as part of a broader conversation about ethics, moderation, and the Christian approach to modern digital life.
